General Paediatric Surgery
Paediatric Surgeons assess and manage a wide range of conditions in children (from newborn babies to up 16 years of age) involving the abdomen and abdominal wall, chest and chest wall, urogenital tract, skin.
Common conditions include abdominal pain and appendicitis, inguinal and umbilical hernias, pectus excavatum (funnel chest), undescended testes, phimosis and hypospadias, skin lesions (e.g. cysts, lumps, pilonidal sinus, ingrown toenail). Most of these conditions will require surgical intervention under general anaesthesia not available in a clinic setting.
